Our Vision

We have launched our exciting new vision for the next 5 years at St Mary’s to focus, inspire and challenge everything we do.

The process of discerning this vision began in 2016, with different ministry groups at St Mary’s, including the PCC, gathering together at various times to pray, discuss, search God’s word in the Bible and dream together, focusing on the question:

‘What does God want St Mary’s to look like in 5 years from now?’

This question kept us focussed in the fact that it is God’s vision we were seeking not our own; that it was about what we looked like as a community, rather than what we were doing; and that we were giving ourselves five years to give our all to the vision, trusting God for the rest.

The result of this process is that we believe that God is calling us to be:

A people who are Committed to Sunday’s, playing their part in serving, being open to God’s Spirit when we gather

A people who are Connected with each other, becoming a Church of Small Groups, rather than a Church with Small groups, enjoying each other’s company, living grateful lives; helping parents connect with each other as they raise their children; and helping men connect with other men as we work out our faith together

A people who are Courageous in sharing their faith, in making a difference in the Horsleys and beyond, in playing their part in demonstrating the love of God.

Who we are becoming is more important than what we are doing, and we need everyone to play their part in this vision. We need your prayers, your support, your commitment and your passion.

Our key verse for the next five years reminds us that we are called to be people out in the world, not hiding in a huddle:

“So let’s go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is – not trying to be privileged insiders… This ‘insider world’ is not our home.” Hebrews 13: 13-14
