St Mary’s 246 Club
Building on the success of the Safari suppers, this year we are offering a slightly different twist on hospitality, which we hope you will all enjoy just as much.
Why 246 club?
Apart from St Mary’s church being situated on the A246, and 2 people being joined by 4 others for a meal, we have based the name on Acts chapter 2 verse 46 which shows how members of the early church lived and grew in fellowship together as Christians – the King James Version gives a great translation :–
‘And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart’
What does it involve?
A group of 6, comprised of singles and couples, will meet together in one person’s house to share a 3 course meal (either lunch or supper). The hosts will provide the main course and the other guests will provide the starter and pudding.
This is not meant to be any sort of culinary competition but is about developing friendships between all members of our church family and community. The food is incidental – cordon bleu or takeaway are equally acceptable. So we really hope that everyone feels able to join in!
How can I get involved?
Please sign up today by contacting our church office with your name(s), contact telephone number, email address, home address and please state whether or not you would be able to host a meal for 6 people.
Sign up today – Don’t miss out!
