Children’s & Youth Ministry

stmarys-children-imageWe exist to value everyone, grow deeper in our relationship with God, be real with each other and be united generationally.

CYM Value Statement

Our Children’s and Youth Ministry (CYM)
is a crucial part of St Mary’s life.
We recognise the importance for children and young people to find a place where they feel at home and can explore what a relationship with Jesus means for them.
We have four groups on offer across a Sunday,
which we’d love to see you at.

On a Sunday morning, we have Roots (0 to Reception age), Construction Zone (school years 1 to 5), and I.D. (school years 6 to 10), which run during our 10:45am Contemporary Service at East Horsley Village Hall. Young people in school years 11 to 13 are involved in the service along with the other adults, and are encouraged to get stuck in and take an active role in serving across the church.

On a Sunday evening, we have our youth group, Reclaim (school years 6 to 13). We get together to hang out, catch up, play games, check out what a relationship with God is all about, and have a great time as we do that, from 5-6:30pm in the Wheelhouse on East Lane.

We seek to teach the bible in an engaging and relevant way along with games, activities, prayer and many other things specific to the age groups, to help the children and young people grow in their relationships with God and live it out.

We recognise the importance of living out our relationship with God together as a Christian community and that is why we seek to deepen the relationships across the CYM groups when we meet each week and through other events across the year such as BBQs, bowling and laser quest trips.

We also know the joys and challenges parents & guardians face in raising their children and young people. Through all that we do we seek to support you in that, and also offer opportunities to get together with the other parents in St Mary’s living it out like you are to get encouragement and support.

For more information about all that we have offer for children, young people, and parents & guardians, please contant Edd Cope, our Children’s and Youth Minister, and check out the term cards of the different groups below.

“To be working in partnership with parents to help all Children and Youth grow towards full maturity in Christ through proclaiming and modelling the good news of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit while equipping and releasing all the Children and Youth to use their God given gifts, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, as part of an authentic Christian community that is united generationally”

Online Content for Children and Young People

Our fantastic leaders produced some great online content over the past year for our children and young people, which can be found on our YouTube channel by clicking here

School Assemblies

Our Rector, Phil, and our Children’s and Youth Minister, Edd Cope, are currently providing The Raleigh School with videoed assemblies rather than leading assemblies in person. These videos are used by teachers taking assembly in class and are also available to families isolating at home. They can viewed on our YouTube Channel by clicking here. Enjoy!

Safeguarding Children and Young People

We take safeguarding seriously and to ensure we offer the best possible care for all our children and young people, all those working in our CYM have a current DBS check and we adhere to the Diocesan Child Protection Policy ‘In Safe Hands’.

Our Safeguarding Officer at St Mary’s is Sue Huntington (pictured).
